McLeuker Survey is the studio in McLeuker AI that puts a questionnaire to a synthetic panel of the fashion value chain. Write the questionnaire once, or let it draft one from a single line, and a panel of fashion-industry personas answers it: people across supply, brand, retail, demand, capital and media. The reading shows where the chain agrees, where it splits, and what the panel cannot tell you. It is a way to pressure-test an idea before you spend on it, clearly labelled as synthetic, never presented as fieldwork.

Survey in one minute

  • What you give it: one line to draft a questionnaire from, or a questionnaire you already have, as .docx, .xlsx, .csv, .txt or .md.
  • What you get back: a reading published as a multi-page web page, which you can also download as HTML.
  • What you can set: who answers (Auto, or one level of seniority), how many answers (Auto is 30, up to 200), and where in the chain (Auto spreads the panel across all six stages).
  • Who it is for: strategy, product and marketing teams who want a structured read on a question before committing budget to real research.
  • Where to find it: signed in, Survey sits inside the Reports section of the app as its own studio.

How it works

  1. Write it, or bring it. "Write it for me" turns one line into a questionnaire. "I have one already" takes your file; a review step may reword or drop a line, and shows every change beside the original.
  2. Preview it. See the questionnaire as a web page before it runs. The preview is free.
  3. Run it. The panel is seated, the answers are collected, and the split is read.

Questions can be agreement on a scale of one to five, pick one, pick several, a number, put in order, or in their own words. A questionnaire can hold up to twenty questions.

What is in the reading

  • A provenance banner, always: a synthetic panel of model-generated respondents, not fieldwork, not a source and never a citation.
  • Who answered, with the respondent count and the seed, so the same panel can be reproduced.
  • A readability check that flags answers that are too uniform, statements that collapsed, and respondents who agreed with everything.
  • The analyst read: where it splits, what each part of the chain thinks, where the chain lands together, what the panel cannot tell you, and what to do next.
  • Who was not in the room: predictions for roles that were not seated, marked as predicted.
  • Question by question, and a ranking of where the value chain splits most.

When you want a document built on the question, hand it to Reports: the questionnaire and the seed travel with it, never the numbers.

Where it fits across the nine sectors

Every sector has a survey use case. A few to start with:

  • Fashion: test a silhouette with the whole chain.
  • Beauty: test a refill idea with shoppers and buyers.
  • Textile: ask whether a fibre switch is worth it.
  • Sustainability: ask whether shoppers would pay for repair.
  • Fashion Tech: ask whether digital try-on changes how people buy.

Briefs to try

  • "Would buyers and shoppers back a return to wide-leg tailored trousers next spring?"
  • "Does resale strengthen a luxury brand, or dilute it?"
  • "If we move our core jersey to recycled cotton at a 12% cost increase, who in the chain absorbs it?"

What it does not do

  • It does not replace fieldwork. The respondents are model-generated personas. A reading is a structured way to think about a question, not evidence about real people.
  • It is not a source. Do not cite a survey reading as a statistic; the reading says so on every page.
  • It does not hand its numbers on. A report built on a survey receives the questionnaire and the seed, not the figures, so a synthetic number cannot be laundered into a document as a fact.

Frequently asked questions

What is McLeuker Survey?

It is the survey studio in McLeuker AI, the AI platform built for fashion. It puts a questionnaire to a synthetic panel of fashion-industry personas across the value chain and returns a reading of where they agree and where they split.

Are the respondents real people?

No. They are model-generated personas, and every reading carries a banner that says so. Use it to pressure-test an idea, not as market research data.

Can I upload my own questionnaire?

Yes, as .docx, .xlsx, .csv, .txt or .md. A review step shows any change it makes beside your original wording.

How many answers can I get?

Auto gives 30. You can choose from 10 up to 200.

Where is Survey in the app?

Inside the Reports section, as its own studio. Start by creating an account, then open Reports.

McLeuker AI is the AI platform built for fashion: research, creative and production studios that each return a finished file. See them all on the products page, or browse the survey use cases for a question worth asking this week.
